The Quran
Surah # 81 - Al-Takweer
Recited by Muhammad Siddeeq Al-Minshaawee

In the Name of Allah, The Entirely merciful, the Especially merciful

1. When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness]
2. And when the stars fall, dispersing,
3. And when the mountains are removed
4. And when full-term she-camels are neglected
5. And when the wild beasts are gathered
6. And when the seas are filled with flame
7. And when the souls are paired
8. And when the girl [who was] buried alive is asked
9. For what sin she was killed
10. And when the pages are made public
11. And when the sky is stripped away
12. And when Hellfire is set ablaze
13. And when Paradise is brought near,
14. A soul will [then] know what [deeds] it has brought [with it].
15. So I swear by the retreating stars
16. Those that run [their courses] and disappear --
17. And by the night as it closes in
18. And by the dawn when it breathes
19. [That] indeed, the Quran is a word [conveyed by] a noble messenger
20.[Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position],
21. Obeyed there [in the heavens] and trustworthy.
22. And your companion is not [at all] mad.
23. And he [Muhammad] has already seen him [Gabriel] in the clear horizon.
24. And he [Muhammad] is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen.
25. And the Quran is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens].
26. So where are you going?
27. It is not except a reminder to the worlds
28. For whoever wills among you to take a right course.
29. And you do not will except that Allah wills -- Lord of the worlds.

Wings against my window
are they birds or are they angels,
waking me for worship
at fajr, before dawn?
Wings against my window
are they birds or are they angels,
singing me from slumber?
soon night will be gone.

I hear sparrows whistle
making the adhan.
I hear their words telling me I am a lazy man
`Come fast to pray`, they say,
`You will find success that way.
Stand up now from where you lay.
This is the best time of the day`

Wings against my window
Are they birds or are they angels,
waking me for worship
at fajr, before dawn?
Wings against my window
are they birds or are they angels,
singing me from slumber?
soon night will be gone.

My heart, it wants to wake up
my body wants to sleep.
The morning air is brisk and cool
my bed is warm and deep.
Birds, they call me to the way,
`Stand before Allah to pray!
Kiss the dawn and greet the day!`
But dreams, they just get in the way.

Wings against my window
are they birds or are they angels,
waking me for worship
at fajr, before dawn?
Wings against my window
are they birds or are they angels,
Assalama Alaykum wa Rahmat Allahi wa Barakatu. Kul 3aam wa antum bi khair.

This is Sheikh Ismail FathAlla, graduate of the legendary Al-Azhar University, Cairo.

How do we properly greet Ramadan? Insha-Allah we will learn one of the best and more rewarding ways to greet the most beautiful month of the year, the month in which Allah began the Revelation of the Qur'an.

From Surat Al-Baqarah:
183. O you who believe! Fasting is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you, that you may acquire Taqwa.
184. Fast for a fixed number of days, but if any of you is ill or on a journey, the same number (should be made up) from other days. And as for those who can fast with difficulty, (e.g., an old man), they have (a choice either to fast or) to feed a Miskin (poor person) (for every day). But whoever does good of his own accord, it is better for him. And that you fast is better for you if only you know.
185. The month of Ramadan in which was revealed the Qur'an, a guidance for mankind and clear proofs for the guidance and the criterion (between right and wrong). So whoever of you sights (the crescent on the first night of) the month (of Ramadan, i.e., is present at his home), he must observe Sawm (fasting) that month, and whoever is ill or on a journey, the same number [of days which one did not observe Sawm (fasting) must be made up] from other days. Allah intends for you ease, and He does not want to make things difficult for you. (He wants that you) must complete the same number (of days), and that you must magnify Allah [i.e., to say Takbir (Allahu Akbar: Allah is the Most Great)] for having guided you so that you may be grateful to Him.
186. And when My servants ask you (O Muhammad concerning Me, then answer them), I am indeed near (to them by My knowledge). I respond to the invocations of the supplicant when he calls on Me (without any mediator or intercessor). So let them obey Me and believe in Me, so that they may be led aright.
187. It is made lawful for you to have sexual relations with your wives on the night of As-Siyam (fasting). They are Libas [i.e., body-cover, or screen] for you and you are Libas for them. Allah knows that you used to deceive yourselves, so He turned to you (accepted your repentance) and forgave you. So now have sexual relations with them and seek that which Allah has ordained for you (offspring), and eat and drink until the white thread (light) of dawn appears to you distinct from the black thread (darkness of night), then complete your fast till the nightfall. And do not have sexual relations with them (your wives) while you are in I`tikaf in the Masjids. These are the limits (set) by Allah, so approach them not. Thus does Allah make clear His Ayat to mankind that they may acquire Taqwa.

The statement of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) has come true. He foretold the division of the Ummah into various different sects, and today it is divided. The reality of this truth dawns upon every Muslim who stops to reflect on the situation the Muslims are in today. Deviation of the Ummah, past and present is a lucid explanation of the causes of this sorry state of affairs and discusses the right way that a Muslim should adopt.
