Q1) Are u saying those who weep or are sad are not following sunna? No, we are saying those who wail over the dead are not following the Sunnah as they are going against the teachings of Islam. --- Q2) Are u saying the prophet of Allah just said people fast on 9 and 10 and y not 20 and 21? Yes the Prophet (s) specified fasting on the day of Ashurah and before it, while he also fasted during the month of Muharram. He never specified 20 or 21 --- Q3) Do you think God forbid if someone passes away whom you truly loved wont you cry or be sad on this day for ur entire life saying its bidha or would u tell urself since its Al Husain i am allowed to cry? In Islam we do not morn the death of anyone more than 3 days (except, the wife for her deceased husband), those who wail and carry out jahiliya rituals or any ritual/act of worship for that matter, not prescribed by the Shariah are committing bidaa. and the Prophet (s) said every innovation will be in the hellfire --- The best way to understand the Sunnah, is to study the Sunnah, by attending classes...Alhamdulillah, once one does that, everything will make sence to them. Islam is based on two sources, The Book of Allah and Sunnah of Prophet (s), and if we cling to them we shall never go astray. Allahu Akbar. Takecare our brother

Walaikumuasalaam the_raider, Sunnah refers to the way of the Prophet Muhammad (saw), weeping and being sad is natural, however, should be done within limit, without transgressing and making rituals out of it, which we sadly see today. The Prophet (saw) never forbade weeping, but he forbade wailing, slapping of the face, tearing of the clothes etc.. and this is all jahiliyah. We should feel for all the companions of Rasoolillah (saw) and the hardships they endured for us,to give us the Islam we have today. Remember, whatever the Prophet gives you take it, whatever he forbids you abstain from it [Quran] and whoever introduces something into this deen which is not from it, it shall be rejected [Hadith].

    salaams brother,r
very pleased for sharing this but am confused. i dont understand what you trying to portray? r
are u saying those who are weep or are sad are not following sunna?r
    ORr
are u saying the prophet of Allah just said people fast on 9 and 10 and y not 20 and 21?r
    ORr
do you thinkin, God forbid that the prophet didn know what was to happen on this specific day and just tel his believers fast?r
    OR r
one more thing God forbid if someone passes away whom you truly loved wont you cry or be sad on this day for ur entire life saying its bidha or would u tell urself since its Al Husain i am allowed to cry? r
and about the shaytan spreading 2 inovation that don cry for Al Husain who is the grandson of the prophet? n i don see him saying the prophet said it so does it get in the sunnah category? r
I think before you write u should understand what sunnah really is and if the so called group you either critising or supportin are followin the sunna or not? It ll make things easy for me to understand. r
    Salaams.

Insha Allah the day of Ashoora is on Friday (18th Jan 2008), and those who intend to fast should either fast the day before or after it - in order to avoid singling out the Friday for fasting.
